Yesterday I read a story on Digital Photography School called “Shoot to Live: what do your photos teach you” I recommend you go and read that, but be warned to have a box of tissues handy. I speaks about not missing the small moments in your children’s lives, “Soak in the mundane” as the write says. I realised how important this was last night. Adam was nearing his bedtime and happily playing with his toys, and I took the chance to respond to some emails. There have been times when I’ve fobbed off his requests to play with me because I deemed what I was doing to be more important. This just isn’t so. Sure there are things that adults have to do, and times when kids have to entertain themselves, but it shouldn’t be the defacto for all important things.
Adam and I threw his aeroplane for only 5mins, but he went to bed very happy knowing that he can count on me to pay him attention when he needs it. And I was able to finish my emails with the satisfaction that I put being a Dad higher than being a photographer. I love my clients dearly, but family will always come first.

You can see the rest of my 365 photos by clicking the Project365 category at the top of this page.

It's me again – sorry to bother:) do you mind if I link to your blog in one of my coming posts? I'm doing the post a day thing too and thought it would be cool to show a NZ photographer – my husbands from NZ and most of his Facebook friends are family from NZ – I love you work and just thought it might be nice, Vanessa
Awesome I'll check it out. Thanks for the comment.
