Creating memorable family photos

Since my kids were born I’ve been obsessed with capturing every detail in the hope that I will remember these times. Every day they show me new sides to their personalities, learn new things at school, and become more teenager-like (which I’m totally not prepared for)

But with all this growing up, it’s so important to me to live in the now and just be with my family. I love the tea parties, putting the dollies to bed, colouring in dragons, drawing elephants with 10 legs, rough and tumble time, telling really really bad jokes and still getting a laugh, eating pudding first, playing catch outside until we’re freezing, reading 5 books at bedtime, and about a million different things.

I get kids. I understand how they see the world, what makes them tick, and what makes them laugh. I love how they’re so black and white, so honest, so playful, and so willing to please their Mum and Dad. I think being a Dad makes me a better photographer for just this reason.

Every family I work with is so special, Mum and Dad have worked so hard to raise their kids, and the photos I produce should reflect this. I approach each shoot with one goal; show this family as one. Show them together, show them loving and laughing. Because in the years to come I want you to look back on these photos and tell people this is how you were.
